Should You Move from V5 to V6?
Suno presents V6 as faster, more expressive and higher quality than earlier models, with a better understanding of vocals, instrumentation, structure and references. Listeners do not all agree on the vocals, and that is the reason to test rather than assume: the right version depends on your genre and the way you write prompts.
Because V6 and V5 cost the same on Seedance, the comparison only takes two requests. Keep V5 if you need a song longer than six minutes or you already have a sound you like. Use V6 for new work where vocal expression and detail matter most.
One more reason to test now: Suno has retired every model before V6 in its own app, so Seedance is a simple place to hear V5 next to V6 with the same brief.
How to Run a Fair V6 and V5 Test
Keep the Brief Identical
Change one thing at a time. Use the same genre, tempo and lyrics in both versions so any difference you hear comes from the model.
| Keep the same | Why |
|---|---|
Style note | Differences in sound come from the model |
Lyrics | You can compare phrasing and pronunciation |
Title and style | Both versions start from the same direction |
Listen for the Right Things
Most arguments about versions come down to a few details. Listen to these before choosing.
| Listen for | What to check |
|---|---|
Vocals | Natural delivery, phrasing and clear words |
Arrangement | Whether verses, chorus and bridge develop |
Mix | Balance between the voice, drums and bass |
Use Title and Style for Lyrics
A brief on its own lets Suno write the words. Add a title and a style, and the main box takes your lyrics, which is the fairest way to compare phrasing between versions.
| Control | Use it to |
|---|---|
Brief only | Up to 400 characters; Suno writes the words |
Title and style added | Your own lyrics of up to 3,000 characters |
Instrumental | A track with no sung lyrics |
